FAQs About Neurofeedback

We’ve collected and answered some of the most asked questions regarding neurofeedback training.  We also have more information on our website if you visit What is Neurofeedback, Brain Mapping, and our services pages.  Additionally, we’re happy to answer your questions through our contact us page or you can speak with a staff member by calling 336-480-7623.

Is neurofeedback painful?

No! Neurofeedback is pain free and non-invasive.  During the neurofeedback sessions, the client simply wears a headset with sensors gently attached to their scalp while they watch a movie.  Clients relax and watch the movie during the session.  For more information on what to expect, visit our “What is Neurofeedback” page.

Will neurofeedback change my personality?

Neurofeedback focuses on balancing brainwaves which does not change your personality, it simply reduces the negative symptoms you are experiencing.  Many clients report that they feel more like themselves or as though their personality is enhanced because their symptoms and behaviors are relieved and no longer negatively interfere with their daily lives.

What are the side effects of neurofeedback?

Side effects from neurofeedback are minimal.  Some clients report feeling tired after a session, but the majority of patients report feeling happy and in a good mood following neurofeedback training sessions.  Many report improved sleep after the first couple of sessions.

Who can do neurofeedback training?

Neurofeedback training is for all ages! At A Restored Mind, we provide services to children and adults of all ages.  Services are personalized to the individual and because the sessions are relaxing and non-invasive, it can help individuals at any stage of life.

Do I have to do neurofeedback forever?

No, you do not to do neurofeedback forever, services are complete once the areas identified on the brain map are addressed and the individual has achieved their goals.  Maintaining overall healthy sleep, diet and exercise routines help to maintain results. Some children will benefit from additional therapy as they continue to grow, but that is not always the case.  Come in for a free initial evaluation to get a better idea of what you can expect with a course of neurofeedback training.

How do I get started?

The first step is to schedule a free initial evaluation to gain more information and determine if neurofeedback is a good choice for you.  After a consultation, we schedule a qEEG brain map to gather baseline information used for Neurofeedback training sessions.  Once the qEEG brain map is completed, Neurofeedback training sessions are scheduled, and you’ll be on your way to better health.  Contact us online or call 336-480-7623 to get started.
